St. Croix County owns approximately 59 acres of land on the Apple River in the Town of Star Prairie. The Northern States Power Company donated the land to the County in 1964. The land is divided by County Road H. The site is used by the neighboring property owners and some local hunters and fishermen.
The Apple River Park is designated as a County open space and natural recreation area. The site is under the authority of the Community Development Committee. The Committee, Community Development, Parks Division, and Sportsmen's Alliance work together to keep the site in its natural state to maintain hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, etc., at the site and preserve the resource for the future.
