Waiver programs are developed to maintain children who have severe developmental, emotional or physical disabilities in their homes.
Eligibility
- Determined to be functionally eligible based on the Functional Screen
- Financial eligibility
- Live in an allowable setting
- Services Based on health / safety needs
- Resident of St. Croix County
Specific services are based on assessed individual health and safety needs and specified outcomes.
Some Allowable Services
- Adaptive Aids
- Adult Family Home: for severe emotional disabled only, ages 18 to 22
- Child care and foster care
- Communication aids
- Consumer education and training
- Counseling and therapeutic resources
- Daily living skills training
- Day services
- Home modifications
- Nursing services
- Personal Emergency Response Systems
- Respite Care
- Specialized Medical / Therapeutic supplies
- Specialized transportation
- Support and Service Coordination
- Supported employment
- Supportive Home Care
Services Not Covered
- Child care and foster care services are covered only for costs above and beyond basic costs of care
- Experimental services
- Services that are a "normal" parental expectation
- Services that are MA allowable or covered by private insurance
- Services that do not meet an assessed health and safety need
What You Need Know About Waiver Services Funding
- Funding of last resort
- Is determined by the most cost effective
- Is not an entitlement
- Parental payment limit is applied and is based upon parent income and family size
- Priority is given to health and safety needs
