Radon is a naturally occurring, odorless radioactive gas that causes lung cancer. Approximately one third of radon tests done in St. Croix County homes are above the US EPA guideline of 4 pCi/L.
Measuring Radon Levels
The only way to know the radon level in a house is to measure it. You can get radon test kits that meet EPA guidelines at the following county offices: Community Development office at the Government Center in Hudson and Public Health Department at the Service Center in New Richmond. If you are a St. Croix County resident and would like a kit mailed to you, call 715.246.8263. Payment for the kit and shipping fee required at time of payment.
