Plan Purpose

In accordance with Wisconsin Statutes 66.1001 Comprehensive planning, the purpose of this Comprehensive Plan is to provide a guide to the physical, social, and economic development of Town of Hammond. The plan provides an inventory of community assets and issues to determine the local needs, set goals and priorities, and develop a guide for action. This Town of Hammond 2025 Comprehensive Plan will update and replace the adopted 2010 Comprehensive Plan.

The impetus for the plan update is within Wisconsin State Statute (WSS) 66.1001 Comprehensive planning, 2(i) Implementation element, that states "A comprehensive plan under this subsection shall be updated no less than once every 10 years." WSS 66.1001(3) also states that local government ordinances shall be consistent with the comprehensive plan. An updated and consistent comprehensive plan provides the town and landowners consistency in land use decision making.
