The DayAway program is a social model adult day respite care program. Adult day respite has been shown to delay functional or cognitive decline as a result of meaningful engagement and activity. The six hour structured day includes activities and a morning snack and noon meal. The program is designed for those age 60 and over who are frail or those who have cognitive issues related to dementia - any age.
The DayAway staff and volunteers provide a stimulating, healthy, caring, safe environment, and meaningful activities. Activities include: physical exercise, socializing, games, puzzles, card games, crafts, and artistic projects, music, baking, movies, and occasional outing. A morning snack and hot, nutritious lunch is provided each day.
The program is funded through the National Family Caregiver Support Program and provided on a donation basis. Non-residents of St. Croix County are eligible to attend at full cost. The assessment and physician's form are completed prior to acceptance to the program.
